History and Tradition

You can find the baroque castle in the centre of the historic old town which is located above the new city centre of Bad Berleburg (mentioned in the documents for the first time in 1258). It is the princely site of “Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg” and visitors are invited to have an insight into past epochs and the everyday life of a princely family. Private town-houses are decorated with local building materials such as wood or slate that defines the cityscape impressively. Detailed information about traditions, history and further facts can be found on Stadtportrait.
